President Bush has authorised US forces in Iraq to kill or capture Iranian agents as part of a campaign aimed at countering Tehran’s influence in the Middle East, the White House said yesterday. In a further indication of concern in Washington at Iran’s influence in Iraq, White House officials confirmed a decision to take more rigorous measures against Iranian agents in Iraq, accused by the US of arming and training insurgents.
