A prototype of a U.S. satellite that may some day maintain other satellites was safely in orbit Friday. The project, known as Orbital Express, is designed to extend the lives of U.S. intelligence satellites by installing technology upgrades, making minor repairs and topping off the fuel tank that maneuvers the spacecraft. If successful, Orbital Express could lead to changes in satellite design that will allow orbiting spacecraft to be regularly updated rather than having to be replaced entirely. Full Story
