A new report by Distil Networks shows that ticketing companies are getting overwhelmed by malicious bots. Bad bot traffic now makes up 39.9% of all ticketing traffic, which is far higher than the average across all industries and marks a tremendous increase from previous reports mentioning a rate of 22.9%. Another striking finding is that the vast majority (85%) of this malicious traffic comes from North America.

According to the researchers, the criminal organizations behind the bots are getting better at monetizing the traffic, which mostly involves them buying lots of tickets at low prices only to resell them at much higher rates.
