New McAfee research highlights how incredibly common serious data breaches have become. According to the report, 61% of IT security professionals have experienced a significant data breach at the firm they currently work for. Threat actors are increasingly trying to steal intellectual property from firms by means of database leaks (38%), malicious network traffic (37%), targeting file shares (36%), and compromising corporate email (36%).

The research also shows that even though 55% of infosec pros believe that C-level executives should be fired after a significant data breach, 61% of respondents mentioned that the executives in their organization actually expect to receive special treatment when it comes to security policies, which puts their company at risk.
