Home > Analysis > DEFCON 32

Arguably, the most vital and important confabs for our research, community, and calendar year converge in Las Vegas, Nevada this week:  BLACK HAT USA 2024 runs from August 3rd through 8th, while DEF CON 32 runs from August 8th through 11th.  Panels, challenges, and events we track annually at DEFCON 32 are included here.

Come ask us anything about the GRT2! There will be a short presentation about how to participate and the objectives of the event and then you can ask us anything about it and ML flaws and vulnerabilities.

We’re going over the results of the GRT and giving out some awards for our favorite reports. We want to hear from you about how it went and what you liked.

DEFCON 31 Archive:  AI Village Generative Red Team Challenge

Participate in a Jeopardy-style CTFs competition that challenges you to break through the guardrails within 8 different LLMs. In your 50-minute session, execute prompt injections, find internal inconsistencies, and identify issues in information integrity, privacy, and societal harm. Compete for points and take home the prize, or just have fun coming up with novel attacks.   This exercise, first of its kind, will allow the best and brightest minds in the security industry to join diverse voices new and veteran to the AI scene in pursuit of making AI and machine learning safer.

Creator Event

Enjoy some space math nostalgia with challenges from the past four years of Hack-A-Sat quals! Challenges require skills in astrodynamics, satellite operations, digital signal processing, reverse engineering, exploitation, and more! If you missed the last Hack-A-Sat qualifiers or just want to try again, now is your chance!

Ten challenges are available, with a mix of difficulty. These will be available throughout DEF CON, so you can work on them anywhere (even in your hotel room). No team is required, and there is no scoreboard, so there is no pressure!

Challenge developers will be available on the conference floor for hints/clues but may not be able to help with every challenge.
