Explosive drone kills three soldiers, injures eight in the Catatumbo region.

ELN rebels used a drone attached to explosives to ambush a Colombian army patrol near El Carmen in the Catatumbo region, killing three soldiers and wounding eight. Colombia’s Defense Ministry recorded 115 such assaults last year in clashes among armed groups vying for control of former FARC territories. The government suspended peace talks with the ELN in January after waves of violence displaced tens of thousands.
