Taiwan Takes Delivery of Its First Two F-16V Block 70 Fighter Jets After Years of Delays

Taiwan has officially received the first two of 66 F-16V Block 70 fighter jets purchased from the United States after years of technical delays. The aircraft landed at Chihhang Air Base in Taitung County after flying in via Hawaii and Guam. President William Lai welcomed the arrival as an important milestone for air defense capabilities and a demonstration of Taiwan’s self-defense resolve. The delivery comes amid growing public concern regarding Washington’s delivery timelines and broader commitments to arming Taipei. Defense officials confirmed that more jets will arrive later this year as personnel undergo specialized transition training to bring the aircraft fully online.
