Malicious actors are attempting to hijack the accounts of these individuals and exploit them to commit cryptocurrency fraud. While the campaign is most prominent on X, it is not contained to just the one social media platform. Once the attackers take over the account of a high-profile individual, they begin to post fraudulent cryptocurrency opportunities to lure targets. These high-profile accounts give the attackers access to a larger audience, maximizing their financial gains.
