Cyber security researchers have uncovered a large network of malicious apps targeting Android users in India. The apps intercepted SMS messages and used those messages to initiate transactions. The apps also had systems to ensure they could not be deleted from a user’s phone. The apps were spread through WhatsApp messages that encouraged individuals to download the apps.
