Aflac confirms massive breach of personal data.
Aflac says a June intrusion exposed personal information belonging to about 22.65 million people after investigators found suspicious activity on its U.S. network. The company contained the attack quickly and avoided ransomware, but later determined that sensitive data tied to customers, employees, agents, and beneficiaries had been accessed. Stolen information includes Social Security numbers, dates of birth, government IDs, and medical and insurance details. Aflac is offering two years of monitoring services and notes the breach appears linked to a broader campaign targeting the insurance sector.
