Esse Health restores systems and provides free identity protection to patients affected by data breaches.
In April 2025, Esse Health detected a network breach that took its electronic medical records and phone systems offline, leading to the theft of files containing names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, health information, and insurance details for 263,601 individuals. By mid-June, the organization had restored primary patient-facing systems and notified impacted patients, offering 12 months of complimentary identity protection and additional guidance on preventing fraud. Esse Health has implemented further security enhancements and reports no evidence yet that the compromised data has been misused.
