A recently disclosed data breach of healthcare system Ascension Health is impacting over 437,000 patients. Although the incident did not involve Ascension Health’s systems, a business partner of Ascension was victim to the hack which inadvertently exposed patient data. Hackers were able to target a vulnerability in Ascension’s third-party software. Patients in Alabama, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, and Texas were involved in the incident, and compromised information includes Social Security numbers.
