Ad and PR Giant Dentsu Says Hackers Stole Merkle Data

PR agency Dentsu has confirmed that hackers stole client data.

Dentsu disclosed a data breach affecting systems of its subsidiary Merkle after abnormal activity was detected, leading to the shutdown of some systems. Merkle, a customer-experience firm, had files stolen that include information on suppliers, clients, and current and former employees. Dentsu said the compromised files likely contain sensitive personal and payroll information and impacted individuals are being notified and offered free dark web monitoring. Dentsu’s Japan systems were not affected.
