The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced charges against three Russian nationals for their role in cryptocurrency mixing services. The individuals were involved with services Blender.io and Sinbad.io. In early December, Roman Vitalyevich Ostapenko and Alexander Evgenievich Oleynik were arrested. However, the third individual involved in the incidents, Anton Vyachlavovich Tarasov, is still at large. Both cryptocurrency mixers allowed for users to send cryptocurrency while hiding its source, allowing criminals to conceal the origins of their funds. The FBI was assisted by international partners last year in dismantling Sinbad.io.
