Academic researchers have created a new attack which uses cheap equipment to break AMD’s latest protections. The attack is called BadRAM and only costs $10 to enact. Using cheap equipment, this attack can break AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization-Secure Nested Paging. This is a cutting-edge memory integrity protection that uses encryption and isolation to prevent leaks and attacks. On Tuesday, AMD announced updates that would mitigate the BadRAM vulnerability.
