Wireless carrier Cellcom has confirmed that its week-long widespread service disruption was caused by a cyberattack. The Wisconsin telecommunications provider’s voice and text services have been down for a week, but Cellcom has begun to restore some of them over the past few days. The carrier is working to investigate the incident and restore impacted services. Cellcom says it appears that no customer data has been stolen, and has not revealed what type of cyberattack it fell victim to. However, evidence points to ransomware being involved.
