Collection of 127 Million Stolen Accounts Up for Sale on the Dark Web

A threat actor using the moniker “gnosticplayers” has put two large collections of stolen data for sale on a dark web marketplace this week. The first batch contained 620 million records that were obtained by breaching 16 companies. Another batch of 127 million files was put up for sale a few days after the first one.

gnosticplayers asked around $20,000 in bitcoin for the first collection and $14,500 for the second. In both cases, the threat actor only left the collection up for sale on the marketplace for a limited amount of time, supposedly to prevent too many purchases and potential subsequent leaks of the data. After removing the second batch, the threat actor posted a message on the marketplace stating that a new collection of breaches was “coming soon.”
