A cyberattack impacted the North Carolina Ports IT system, affecting operations at the state’s three major port facilities, including a Charlotte inland facility, a spokesperson confirmed. The data breach happened on Tuesday, Aug. 4. NBC affiliate WECT reported that signs outside port gates warned shippers of delays due to “system issues.” It’s unclear if any sensitive data was compromised during the breach.
