Scammers have been using deepfakes of Italian government officials to scam business out of funds.

A scammer group is using deepfakes of Italian government officials to get business groups to transfer funds to their accounts. Italian police have begun an investigation into the scams and has thus far been able to recover some of the funds sent to the group. The police reported that the group was able to fake details such as the caller ID saying the calls were coming from official government numbers.
