Discord Says 70,000 Users Had IDs Exposed in Recent Data Breach

Discord has confirmed that 70,000 users had their IDs exposed in a recent data breach.

Discord confirmed that hackers stole government ID photos of around 70,000 users in a data breach linked to a third-party customer support service, Zendesk. The breach affected users who interacted with Discord’s Customer Support or Trust & Safety teams, exposing sensitive data including names, emails, billing info, and messages. While Discord claims only a small number of ID images were exposed, threat actors allege they obtained over 2 million photos and 1.5 terabytes of data, and are now extorting the company. Zendesk denies any vulnerability in its platform, stating its systems were not compromised.
