Dutch Teens Arrested for Allegedly Helping Russian Hackers

Teenagers recruited via Telegram to conduct surveillance operations.

Two 17-year-old boys were arrested in the Netherlands on suspicion of spying for pro-Russian hackers who recruited them through Telegram. One teen was allegedly spotted near Europol, Eurojust, and the Canadian embassy carrying a Wi-Fi sniffer used to map networks and intercept data. Prosecutors confirmed the arrests were linked to “government-sponsored interference,” with one boy placed on home bail and the other held in custody pending a hearing within two weeks.
