The European Union has sanctioned three Russian individuals for their alleged role in carrying out cyber attacks against Estonia’s key ministries. Nikolay Alesandrovich Korchagin, Vitaly Shevchenko, and Yuriy Fedorovich Denisov work for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU). The E.U. said that the individuals were behind attacks against computer systems, aiming to collect data and gain insights into Estonia’s cyber security policy. They accessed classified information and sensitive data within government ministries. Business secrets, health records, and other critical information was compromised in the cyber attacks.
