The European Commission will allocate 1.3 billion euros to key technologies and their advancements through the 2025-2027 Digital Europe Programme work program. The program, nicknamed DIGITAL, is designed to make digital technology more prevalent. The move comes after the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s war against Ukraine, both of which highlighted European vulnerabilities. DIGITAL has a total budget of over 8.1 billion euros and will advance areas of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the adoption of digital technologies. The DIGITAL program will specifically aim to expand access to generative AI.
