The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had deleted PlugX malware from over 4,250 infected computers. The operation was authorized by the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) and spanned multiple months. PlugX is a remote access trojan (RAT) which was commonly used by Chinese threat actors. The specific variant of PlugX that was targeted in this operation is known to spread across systems through attached USB devices.
