FBI Tells Telecom Firms to Boost Security Following Wide-Ranging Chinese Hacking Campaign 

The FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have released new guidance with the goal of preventing cyberespionage. The announcement comes in response to a recent Chinese hacking campaign during which Chinese officials gained access to private conversations of Americans. The FBI and CISA hope that the new guidance will help to root out the hackers. The group behind the attacks was Salt Typhoon, a Chinese-sponsored hacking group. In the attack, they targeted individuals working in government or politics. The suggestions urged telecom companies to enhance encryption, centralization, and monitoring.
