Google Disrupts IPIDEA Proxy Network

Google has disrupted the IPIDEA Proxy Network.

Google has dismantled IPIDEA, one of the world’s largest residential proxy networks, which covertly enrolled millions of consumer devices via trojanized SDKs embedded in mobile and desktop apps. The takedown included legal action against control domains and coordinated intelligence sharing to block malicious SDKs across platforms. IPIDEA had been used by more than 550 threat groups for activities such as credential theft, botnet control, and infrastructure obfuscation. Google Play Protect now removes and blocks apps containing IPIDEA SDKs, significantly degrading the network’s operations.
