Texas officials reported a data breach affecting 300,000 crash reports.
On May 12, the Texas Department of Transportation detected unauthorized access to its Crash Records Information System, potentially exposing personal details from crash reports. The crash reports may include personal information such as names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, car insurance policy numbers, and other information. While notification is not legally required, officials have warned Texans to monitor their credit reports and consider freezing their credit if they notice suspicious activity.
