Interpol Says 260 Suspects in Online Romance Scams Have Been Arrested in Africa

Interpol has carried out a large operation in Afirca.

Interpol’s Operation Jackal III led to the arrest of 281 individuals across Africa, with 260 suspected of involvement in online financial crimes, particularly romance scams. The operation targeted West African organized crime groups, including those known as Black Axe, which exploit social media to deceive victims emotionally and financially. Authorities froze 82 bank accounts and identified over 400 suspicious online platforms used for fraudulent activities.
