U.S. law firms Greenberg Traurig and Eckert Seamans have disclosed data security breaches that exposed sensitive information, the latest incidents to spotlight escalating cyber threats confronting the legal industry. Miami-founded Greenberg Traurig said in a statement to Reuters on Thursday that “an unauthorized ​actor” had accessed a limited number of documents and posted them on the dark web. The firm said ‌it has notified what it described as a “small number of affected clients.” Greenberg Traurig, which employs more than 3,200 lawyers, said its “firm systems were not compromised or breached” and that it has continued to operate without disruption. The firm submitted a notice to the state attorney general in Vermont this week ​saying that Social Security information was exposed in the incident.
