Meta removed about 10 million impersonator profiles and 500,000 spam accounts in the first half of 2025, aiming to curb the quantity of AI-generated content on user feeds. Accounts that repeatedly reshare others’ posts without significant additions will face reduced distribution and temporary loss of monetization privileges, with duplicate videos downranked and link-attribution tests directing viewers to original creators. The policy, mirroring YouTube’s recent crackdown on unoriginal content, is designed to protect authentic creators and make room for fresh voices in users’ feeds.
