Meta Platforms has been fined 251 million euros, equivalent to around $263 million for a 2018 data breach. The breach impacted millions of users. This is the latest financial hit on Meta as the company has recently received other fines for breaking privacy laws. According to the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), around 29 million Facebook accounts were impacted around the globe by the data breach. The incident arose from a bug in Facebook’s systems around the time. Through the vulnerability, attackers were able to access user accounts and their personal data.
