A new regulation enacted by the European Union will establish a cybersecurity shield for member states. The cybersecurity package contains two new laws aimed at increasing cybersecurity in the EU. The first law will create a European Cybersecurity Alert System to coordinate cybersecurity between member states. It will also establish a Cybersecurity Emergency Mechanism and a European Cybersecurity Incident Review Mechanism. These mechanisms will support both cybersecurity preparedness and recovery. The second law amends the EU’s cyber resilience by adopting new certification schemes for security services.
