A new Android backdoor has been discovered by researchers.
Kaspersky researchers discovered a new Android backdoor called Keenadu that was found preinstalled on many devices and also distributed through major app stores such as Google Play. The malware provides attackers full remote control and is primarily used for ad fraud, including hijacking searches and triggering fraudulent clicks. Roughly 13,000 infected devices have been identified worldwide, with infections linked to compromised firmware and malicious system apps. Researchers also found connections between Keenadu and major Android botnets like Triada and BadBox, suggesting coordinated activity originating from China.
