Nikkei Says 17,000 Impacted by Data Breach Stemming From Slack Account Hack

Malware breach exposes Slack data of 17,000 Nikkei users.

Hackers accessed Nikkei’s Slack accounts using credentials stolen from an employee’s personal computer. The breach compromised names, emails, and chat histories of over 17,000 users, though no reporting-related data was affected. Nikkei discovered the incident in September and has since changed passwords and reported it to Japan’s data protection authority. The company previously faced a ransomware attack in 2022 affecting customer data.
