Nova Scotia Power Confirms Ransomware Attack, 280k Notified of Data Breach 

Nova Scotia Power, a Canadian electric utility company, has confirmed that it was the victim of a recent ransomware attack. The company disclosed the breach at the end of April, and in early May revealed that customer information had been stolen by hackers. The compromised data includes credit history, payment information, bank account numbers, and driver’s license numbers. The malicious actor published some data that was stolen from Nova Scotia Power’s systems, but it is unclear which ransomware group was behind the attack and where the data was published. 280,000 customers have been informed about their involvement in the data leak.
