Oracle has confirmed to its customers that its systems were breached in a recent attack that it had denied. The company seems to be attempting to downplay the incident’s impact. The hacker behind the incident had offered to sell millions of lines of data including over 140,000 Oracle Cloud tenants. The malicious actor had originally planned to extort $20 million from Oracle, but the company did not pay the ransom. Oracle had denied the cyberattack, stating that the data of Oracle Cloud customers had not been accessed. However, after the attacker shared various information to prove their claims, Oracle has privately notified impacted customers about the data breach. The FBI and Crowdstrike are currently investigating the incident.
