Classes were canceled Tuesday after a “cyber incident” left the school system with no phones, no email and little access to the curriculum or records for its 24,000 students. Students and staff are urged to refrain from using the school network and accessing their school computer accounts and email. They are asked to stay off any laptops or other electronics issued by the schools, as information technology and security staff figure out what’s wrong, said Azell Cavaan, communications director for the schools. Information technology staff are working to make repairs, while educators will spend the day finding work-arounds so students can return to school on Wednesday, Cavaan said. “We will be looking at restoring critical areas related to the health and safety of our students so we can reopen schools,” she said.
