Major breach disables Tea app’s direct messaging feature.
Tea discovered on July 25 that a legacy Firebase database storing 72,000 user images was breached. Researchers later found over one million private direct messages, including sensitive personal discussions, exposed on hacker forums. In response, Tea disabled its DM feature, called in the FBI and cybersecurity experts, and will notify affected users while offering identity protection services.
