US lawmakers intend to take control over the US ban on Huawei products, which would allow them to block President Donald Trump’s recent decision to partially relax the blacklisting of the Chinese tech giant.
In May of this year, Trump signed an executive order extending the federal ban on Huawei products to the private sector, citing security concerns. Huawei was placed on the “Entity List,” thereby forbidding US firms from doing business with the company. But after meeting with China’s President Xi on June 29, Trump said he had agreed to allow US firms to continue selling products to Huawei. Now, a cross-party coalition of US lawmakers have introduced a new bill that aims block the decision to remove Huawei from the “Entity List.”
