CISA, the U.S. cybersecurity agency, is warning of malicious actors who are targeting the ISC/SCADA systems of oil and natural gas organizations. The agency says that the attacks are using very basic intrusion techniques, but could lead to disruptions and even physical damage to critical infrastructure. CISA is likely referring to hacktivist groups, or hackers claiming to be hacktivists. The alert published by the government agency is urging critical infrastructure organizations to quickly improve their cybersecurity posture.
