ZionSiphon Malware Targets ICS in Water Facilities

Researchers have identified a new malware strain designed to target Israeli water treatments.

Darktrace researchers identified a new malware strain, ZionSiphon, designed to target Israeli water treatment and desalination facilities. The malware checks whether a compromised system is located in Israel and associated with ICS processes before attempting to alter chlorine and pressure configurations. Although its code shows intent to disrupt operations, many components are incomplete, making real‑world impact unlikely at this stage.
