Afghanistan and Pakistan pledge to respect ceasefire after more than a week of deadly fighting

Afghanistan and Pakistan entered a ceasefire on Sunday.

After a month of increased violence between the two countries, Afganistan and Pakistan agreed to enter a ceasefire on Sunday. This agreement was mediated by Qatar and Turkey, and will go into effect immediately. Zabihullah Mujahid, the chief spokesman of the Taliban government, gave a positive response to news of the ceasefire, stating that both countries will stop any hostile actions. A follow-up meeting discussing the ceasefire is to be held on October 25th in Istanbul.
