Rebel groups set off explosives near police stations in Cali and the neighboring Cauca province.

Military and police officials attributed the attacks to a faction led by former members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. Since the group’s 2016 peace deal with the government, various rebel factions have sought to gain control over abandoned territory. Colombia’s government has faced ongoing challenges in curbing violence across both urban and rural areas, and peace negotiations collapsed after the group attacked indigenous communities last year.
