Nigerian village assault leaves dozens dead
Boko Haram militants killed at least 60 people in a nighttime assault on Darul Jamal village in northeastern Nigeria’s Borno state on Friday. The attack targeted residents who had recently returned from displacement camps, with over a dozen houses burned and more than 100 people forced to flee. Researchers identified the perpetrators as the JAS faction of Boko Haram, which increasingly targets civilians suspected of collaborating with rivals or military forces. The governor urged residents not to abandon their homes while promising improved security, though some survivors plan to leave permanently after losing family and friends.
