Clashes between Assad loyalists and government forces have continued in parts of Syria.

Clashes between Assad loyalists in Syria’s coastal region and government forces have continued. The government in Damascus has dispatached additional security forces to the region to increase stablitiy. Syria’s coastal region had long been supportiative of the Assad regime due to the region’s large population of Alawites in the area. International monitors have reported that some small areas have been taken over by Assad loyalists.
