El Salvador approves indefinite presidential reelection and extends terms to 6 years

El Salvador has amended its constitution to extend the presidential term and end term limits.

El Salvador has amended its constitution to extend the presidential term of office to six year. The amendments also ended term limits for the presidency. The move has been denounced by the remaining opposition parties and other groups has allowed the president to consolidate supreme power in himself.
