Germany and other European countries suspend decisions on Syrians’ asylum bids after Assad’s fall

Several European countries have suspended asylum processing for Syrian migrants.

Germany, Austria, and other European countries have announced that asylum applications for Syrian migrants would be paused. The decision was made on the basis that the situation in Syria is unclear and more time is needed to see how the situation develops. Germany authorities say there are nearly one million Syrian migrants of various statuses within the country and 47,000 pending asylum applications.
