The Houthis have released some UN staff.
Houthi rebels in Yemen released five detained Yemeni U.N. staff members and allowed 15 international staff to move freely within the U.N. compound in Sanaa after holding them over the weekend. U.N. spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric confirmed that Houthi security forces had left the compound, following a pattern of raids and detentions targeting international organizations. The Houthis have accused U.N. and embassy workers of being spies, a claim the U.N. denies, and a World Food Program worker previously died in detention. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres has engaged with leaders from Iran, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia to help secure the release of detained staff and ensure their safety.
