The Houthi advance has suprised both Saudi Arabia and the world at large but it is no secret that they were helped by Iranians. AP has learnt that advisers from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard were embedded directly on the ground, assisting Houthi forces at tactical command levels in their most direct involvement in Yemen’s conflict. These advisors directed the campaign and helped Houthis capture Yemen’s Red Sea coastline and the strategic port city of Mokha in under 48 hours, executing perhaps their largest land advance in years.
