Israel has announced that it will move forward with the construction of new settlements in the West Bank.

The proposed settlements will be built in area that is between two major cities, Bethlehem and Ramallah. Opposition groups and rights groups have said that the project will make it impossible for Palestinians to form a state in the West Bank territories. The move comes after several countries including France and the United Kingdom said they will recognize the state of Palestine.
